Kings Mill Reservoir is a family-friendly nature reserve with a range of land and water activities that are popular with walkers, runners and cyclists. The reservoir is part of Mill Waters, found between Sutton in Ashfield and Mansfield, and with Sutton Lawn and Hermitage Ponds creates a green network along the River Maun Corridor.

The Mill Adventure Base is found at the reservoir and offers a wide range of pursuits for young people and community groups. The Nottinghamshire County Council-run adventure base provides activities including archery, sailing, kayaking, orienteering, mountain-biking, caving, outdoor and indoor climbing walls, low ropes and a zip wire. Visitors can also combine the activities with an overnight stay at the base’s camping pods, and have the opportunity to head into the Peak District for an off-site adventure.

How to get there
By car: Exit at junction 28 on the M1 and head to Mansfield Road/A38 in Sutton-in-Ashfield.
By train: Sutton Parkway station (1.6 miles).
