Cycling and Walking Network

PROJECT STATUS: Ongoing project
REGENERATION STRAND: More to Discover

A comprehensive network of walking and cycling routes will be created by upgrading existing routes and creating new sections. This will help provide improved connections to public transport as well as key employment areas in the district, and provide safe and active travel routes for recreation and work.

The off-road routes provide opportunities for children and adults at all levels of ability to gain confidence and enjoy using traffic-free routes. These routes will help to reduce the number of car journeys leading to improved air quality.

The main routes being upgraded and/or created are Hucknall - Kirkby - Sutton - Mansfield; Sutton - Derbyshire; Huthwaite - Sutton; and Sutton - Sherwood Observatory.

The routes navigate through town centres and residential areas and link to Sherwood and Castlewood Business Parks. They also link to attractions including Mill Waters at Kings Mill Reservoir, the Science Discovery Centre, Planetarium and Observatory, and Hardwick Hall.
